In addition, your organization will receive the Queen City Certified "Leader in Gender Equity" seal to use on your website and marketing materials, a decal to display in the location of your choosing, and a listing on the Queen City Certified website.

HOW DO WE GET CERTIFIED?
 

The three-month certification process includes:

  • Three half-day collaborative learning sessions (1 x month)

  • An organizational self-assessment

  • An anonymous organization-wide survey

  • A gender/race pay audit
    (required for Silver and Gold certification only)

  • An employee listening session

  • The development of an action plan

IS THE INFORMATION COLLECTED CONFIDENTIAL?
 

Absolutely. The information collected through the assessment, survey, and pay audit will be reviewed by the Queen City Certified team in order to determine eligibility for certification as well as rating level. We will not share your information publicly. However, transparency and accountability are essential if we are to create a cultural shift toward equity, so we encourage you to share your challenges and progress with the community.

WHAT DOES THE SELF-ASSESSMENT MEASURE?
 

Organizations that perform well on our self-assessment have formal policies and practices in place that facilitate:

  • A diverse workforce that is representative of the community itself

  • Strong gender balance at all levels of the organization

  • Fair pay practices

  • An inclusive and supportive work culture

IS THERE A COST ASSOCIATED WITH CERTIFICATION?
 

Fees are determined by the total number of employees in an organization, as well as for-profit or non-profit status. Please contact us for more information.  

 
 

Q6

HOW LONG DOES CERTIFICATION LAST?

All levels of certification are valid for two years. After two years, you must renew your certification. You can recertify at the base level once. After a total of four years, you will be expected to move from Certified to Silver. There is no time limit to move from Silver to Gold.


 
 

Q7

WHAT'S REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE?
 

Your organization must: 

  • Have at least five full-time employees

  • Send two employees, one of whom has the power to implement policy changes, to attend three collaborative learning sessions; lunch is provided

  • Complete an organizational self-assessment

  • Distribute an organization-wide employee survey to be completed on paid time; the survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete

  • Agree to a gender/race pay audit (required for Silver and Gold certification only)

  • Host an employee listening session

  • Develop an action plan that includes 2-year and 4-year gender equity goals

  • Submit a completed evaluation of the certification process
